White LEDs have an efficiency of about 5% or less.
Halogen incandescent lamps lamp are about 4%.

In other words 95% of the power given to white LEDs
is lost as heat.

Sure white LEDs produce little heat but they produce
little light also.

This is flat out wrong.
White flourescent lamps are about 10% efficient.
