Questions re; Vegetable Oil (for wiser heads than mine!)

Can anyone help me find the answers to some rather basic questions?

1. Which plant produces the most oil?
2. Is there a significant difference in the calorific values of
different plant oils?
3. How much oil (gallons or litres)can one acre of xxx (oil seed
rape/sunflower?)
4. How much diesel oil is consumed in the UK each year.
5. What modifications are required to get the average car diesel engine
to run on vegetable oil?

I just thought it would be interesting to play with the numbers. I am
not suggesting for one moment that the entire UK agriculture be given
over to cultivating Sun Flowers, (however pretty that might look), but
could the poorer parts of the world, (eg Africa), become major
suppliers of bio-diesel? It channel money away from the "terrorists"
and toward the impoverished regions of the world.

Why won't it work???
