Fusion of light nuclei

Hello,
I visited the Culham laboratory last Wednesday and saw the extremely
primitive equipment that is used to try to control the energy generated by
the reaction where hydrogen nuclei fuse to helium in a element transmutation
that yields energy.
The machines are big but not as big as I thought, A man has to stoop to walk
inside the reactor vessel.
I was quite amazed that the reaction made high velocity neutrons and that
these were collected in a lithium blanket to make it hot in order to raise
steam.
I do get the impression that the real thermonuclear power units are in every
day use as power plants for warships by the military and this laboratory is
just a front to prevent the real secret from being discovered by a foriegn
power.
Still it is rather fun. I do not believe that the method they use will be
viable at anytime in the future. Another more convenient method has to be
found. See my web page.... http://www.chrisspages.co.uk/
