global warming

Hello
The air here was hot and humid at around 5 am and as a result I started to
choke with fluid from somewhere in my throat.
I went to the next room where I have constructed a shelter which is a closed
room with a small air conditioning unit with the heat outlet pipe sealed
through a hole in a plastic ***.
The humidity and temperature fell quickly and I felt better, my coughing
stopped.
My watering eyes also improved.
Well I am quite old but it is uncomfortable everywhere in the South of
England, there is something wrong with the Atmosphere.
The philosophers who taught us to spend our money, that air conditioning was
unnecessary and that pollution and global warming were fiction... Well the
things predicted 30 years ago in the little book I studied at University
called "The Club of Rome Report" are happening. The world leaders at the
time who were very popular ignored by careful choice to ignore it as it
would damage commerce. The capitalist system would provide. Well hopefully
it will, alternative strategies in eastern europe have already failed.
There must already be deaths caused by heat and humidity here in the UK it
is not to bad really it must be more severe almost everywhere else.
I suppose we have to stop using petrol or any other carbon based fuel for
cars and basically stop everything. Use our energy source to scrub the
atmosphere of carbon dioxide and use all our cleverness to develop renewable
non polluting energy.
Remember 65,000 years ago when the temperature, recorded in diatoms, reached
60 degrees C, there were only 6 survivors from whom the whole human race is
decended.
Well hopefully it will not happen. I hope we will be clever enough to avert
this catastrophy. However capitalism and democracy seem to act to prevent
this adaptive change taking place. Moves to limit oil use will be so
unpopular that in a democracy the party who had this as policy would not be
elected. Commerce, because it seeks to maximise profit cannot itself limit
production.
However when people see their relatives and friends die of excess heat or
the effects of polution then a popular movement will lead to elections and
laws, new research that will eventually make the adaptive change the human
race needs to make.
It is already too late for a lot of people. Marginal regions are becoming
deserts, even india is suffering as is australia.
It is unlikely that thermonuclear fusion will be developed before the cost
of fuel to power the research (it uses nearly all the electrical power from
a big power station) becomes too expensive.
I know a personwho thought she could use another way of making fusion
reactor work. The police thought her little research unit was a bomb factory
and she is now in a mental home. There were other reasons of course, all
false. I moun her loss.
I think we (the human race) will survive. We are clever, adaptive animals.
Chris
