Each ton of coal produce approx 2.7 tonnes of CO2.
On the other hand, one ton of coal gives approx 25 MJ of chemical
energy (the figures varie widely, not all coals are createfd egal).
So, to know how much CO2 is emitted from a coal plant, you have to
convert the annual production of electricity from GWh's to Megajoules,
divide by the effieicncy of the plant typicalle 0.4) to get how much
thermal energy is used, divide but 25 MJ/ton to get the amont of burnt
coal, and multiply by 2.7.
