Does it make a big difference, where the auto-cut off is? I would have
thought that it was accurate enough to get a good estimate of your
mpg.... especially if you do it often enough...
I started doing this 800 mile technique because I was getting a big difference in
mileage when doing the mileage with just one tank.
And yes, winter gives the worst gas mileage. I goggled all over Usenet a few years
back looking for people's experience with gas mileage. Many people driveling
different kinds of cars report that mileage is way off during winter.
