I'm just saying before they build 8 zillion disk style turbines they
might want to make SURE that they have looked under every rock for the
best flow machine.
Everyone missed the obvious reason why gas turbo impulse is 80%
efficient: The gas is moving at at least an order of magnitude faster
than the ambient air. Not so for wind turbines.
A mixed flow -- part axial/part radial -- turbine is probably the
answer for wind because it reduces the continuity problem to almost
nothing.
Something resembling a yard ornament wind sock spinner would be mostly
in tension and should be more durable and cheaper for the unit power.
And it looks better.
