Survey to Support Dissertation Research

My name is Walt Casey and I am a PhD candidate in Organization and
Management within the Capella University School of Business and Technology.
I reside in Plano, Texas , USA. I am conducting dissertation research
titled, "The relationship among decision-making approaches, system
thinking, and decision speed: An explanatory study."

I am inviting participants in the Internet newsgroup
"sci.energy" who are involved for-profit organizations to participate in
this research by completing a short Web-based survey. If you choose to
participate, please email me at research@xxxxxxxxxxxx stating your email
address, the name of the discussion group, and your willingness to
participate. You will be sent a user identification, password, and a link to
the survey site. Your anonymity will be maintained because the only
identifier associated with the survey will be the password.

There are no risks to the participant. Your survey results and those of
other participants will be kept confidential. The Web site is secure and
allows access by invitation only. Individual participants can only access
the survey associated with them. All data collected is maintained in a
database where only the password is used to identify an individual. No
personal identifying information will be used in the analysis and all
results will be in the form of aggregated findings.

In exchange for your participation, you will be provided with a link to the
Web site providing a summary of the findings from the research. This will
occur within 90 days of completion of the data collection.

Again, your participation is completely voluntary and you may opt out of
participation at any time before completion of the survey. If you should
elect to withdraw from participation, there are no consequences to doing so
and the researcher thanks you for your consideration in this important
project.
