Since the only people they hire are Brazilian tree morons.
There are lots of grocery stores that seem to exist on a 3%
profit margin. If exxon started a price war and started lowering its
profit margin from 8% to 7%, they would sell more based on price, but
they dont have an unlimited supply, so half way thru the year, when
they sold everything they had, they'd all go on furlough till the tanks
filled up again. Assuming they could in fact reduce their profit margin
from 8% to 3%, that would bring down the price of gas from $3.00 to
$2.85.
