You must be using a different meaning of the word invent.
Watt improved and invented a number of subsystems of the steam engine,
but he in know way invented the engine.
He invented the steam engine with a seperate condensor, the most significant
advance before someone invented the steam engine that expanded the steam to
push the piston, instead of condensing the steam to suck the piston.
