Caloric intake in the US is over 40% higher than necessary.
And that's before you consider the amount of food wasted or thrown away !
And also before you consider the waste of calories that go into
the quantities of milk and meat we eat.
Supposedly dairy products have some nutritional value but your point is
valid from the energy - land use POV.
We could get by with only 20% of the farm acreage now being used and
_still_ have a healthier population.
That's not win win or win win win.
That's win win win win.
