SYMPOSIUM - Fuel cells for mining
MONTREAL - The first international
symposium on the use of fuel cells in mining applications is set for
April 29, 2007, in Montreal. The symposium is part of the CANADIAN
INSTITUTE OF MINING, METALLURGY & PETROLEUM's (CIM) annual conference
and exhibition. Among the organizers are the CIM, Natural Resources
Canada, CANMET and the Fuelcell Propulsion Institute.
The use of hydrogen fuel cells has already been demonstrated in the
mining industry. It has the potential to improve workplace health and
to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs. The CIM is
inviting contributions to the symposium on several topics such as fuel
cells in underground vehicles, fuel cell design, mine site hydrogen
distribution, cost-benefit analyses, and regulatory standards.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is Oct. 1, 2006. Submit them
at www.CIM.org. Further information is available from executive
director Jean Vavrek, jvavrek@xxxxxxx or 514-939-2710.
