Brazil's success story with Ethanol

As the US dithers over how they can find an alternative to
oil,Brazil's ethanol success has raised more than eyebrows around the
world. The sugar cane industries are recieving record investments in
many countries in the developing world seeing this as their big chance
to break out of the 3rd world.
I just want to pose a question .
Do we seriously think that the oil majors, who sponsor the Bush
administration and most other key players in the world economy, will
stand by and let a viable alternative to oil come about? Surely they
will do everything in their (Colossal) power to criticise, hamper or
destroy competition to their hegemony?
I feel the world population has been duped into thinking that
the US is desperate to find a way to not be dependent on the Middle
East oil. Middle East oil after all, is largely intertwined with US/UK
majors, so high oil prices may not be the best thing for the US economy
as a whole, but it is a wonderful thing for Bush and his oil cronies,
who lets face it,paid for his election campaigns. After such a hefty
investment of several hundred million dollars, surely they know that
this govt. isnt going to do ANYTHING to change our thirst for oil. I am
surprised Brazil was allowed to get away with their successful
development of 100% ethanol cars, and their sugar gold fuel. US
influence in Brazil over the years has been far reaching.
There are a lot of other alternatives such as natural gas fuels
also gaining admiration in Latin America. I just think its been a huge
cover up in the Western media that this info about other fuels is
difficult to find out about. The arguments against these alternatives
seems always to go along the lines of : How many acres of land is
available in the US to produce the ethanol needed for a year's usage?
Or other silly hypothesis to discredit the idea. Cant we just leave it
to 3rd world countries to do and import? Oh thats just too silly to
mention is it? We cant have the 3rd world dictating our energy needs? I
have seen estimates from Brazil's production of ethanol per year, being
enough to cater to the needs of Japan 's oil needs, plus 40% of US
needs. Now that is astonishing. The world's equatorial regions would be
at an advantage for multiple crops per year over their Western
counterparts. Import! A combination of ethanol 85% and gasoline 15%
E85 is widely available already in the US. And even better, many cars
are equiped to use this fuel already. But more than likely that is
hidden in the small print in your car manual! Surely this is an
example of systematic suppression of useful information? Tell more
people about it.Lets do the research now? Is there a better
alternative? Tell a friend, and tell them to tell 2 friends.
A final note.... I only found out about oil alternatives through
the internet. I really thought that Hydrogen Battery Cars were the only
alternative in development. There are of course many many more. Tell me
more please? I want more info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
