Re: Here is a solution : Have FREE SOLAR panels put on your house

Nobody has opened the books to me but I have run several business and
have been around the block a couple of times. Lets toss some numbers.:
-----------------------------------------------
Solar on your home at retail $20,000.00
citizen is building the largest factory in the USA -production cost
$5,000 (give me feedback on this )
Install $1000.00
total sunk costs $6,000 -$7,000

if your electric bill is $150.00 a month and they provide all of your
electricity ( this is what they are shooting for)
Their payback is $6500 / 150.00
Payback for investment = 43 months $150.00 per month

if you sign a 25 year contract = 300 months
300 months - 43 months = 257 months profit
at $150.00 a month $38,550.00 after recovering initial expeses

No, they are not going out of business.

they will do very well and they will be responsible for installing
millions of solar panels around the USA.
Not Bad

OK, there's a lot of guys in these groups that know a lot about this
stuff. I'll be very curious to hear what people think of this one.

I mean in the "ideal world", this wouldn't SOUND like a bad idea.It sounds too good to be true. Usually things that sound too good to
be true are not true. What's the catch? I don't know. Perhaps we
should ask where the company expects to make a profit in this deal.

And assuming it is legitimate, what if rates somehow (unlikely, I know)
drop BELOW the 2005 rates you mention here? And why 2005 rates when
we're about to hit 2007?Rates don't drop but even if they did, I don't think this company
expects to make a profit on the electricity they sell. They are
going to make their money somewhere else and it might, as one of
the other posts mentioned, come from some loophole in the contract.
