You make a funny point. My first point, did you know that a byproduct
of electrolysis is electroplating? That is all a part of the Redox
equation in electrochemistry.
Why would they use a homopolar generator for electroplating, when they
could just use a step down transformer and 120 VAC converted to DC?
Of course, that's exactly what they do these days since the availablity of
high current rectifiers. DC machines of any type are rarely used these days
because it is so much cheaper and efficient to simply rectify AC with modern
semiconductors. Even the lowly automotive DC generator has been replaced by
an AC alternator with rectifier diodes. Homopolar generators are an
historical anachronism. Name one place where they have been applied in a
recent design.
Kilowatt per kilowatt the price for a service like electroplating, will
do everything in thier power, ability and know how to save money. So,
if they can convert 1 Kilowatt to 100 Kilowatts, what do you think they
will do? Use a 1 Kilowatt Electric Motor to drive a 100 Kilowatt
Homopolar Generator?
If it could hang to the floor, you just stepped on your tongue.
I don't know why I bother answering a nitwit who thinks that a perpetual
motion machine exists that can convert 1KW into 100KW. Maybe you should
study basic science a bit before posting such idiotic blather.
You misread something. They still use Homopolar Generators in
welding, and electroplating. Where are your precious diodes now?
They still use them, and they are still being researched.
