Few place where people live get to 0 Fahrenheit except in the middle of
the winter.

The air temp outside my window is 3 degrees F right now. I am sure it
will get down below zero before morning. When using a heat pump it is
far better to use a 55 degree ground source than a - 5 degree air
source.

If you want to heat a house in the winter, you are about 20 degrees
short of having anything usefull.

55 degrees Fahrenheit is a trivial heat gradient.

55 degrees Fahrenheit is a good temperature to store root vegetables.
