It's far better to run them on h2o2 plus whatever, at zero NOx and
nearly zero CO2.

Hybrid Diesel-Elec 2,500 - 3,438
Trolley (UK grid) 1,744 - 2,189
Trolley(renewables) 0
So even using current electricity supply, they produce less than 50%
of the Co2 emissions of Diesel.
Potentially, they are zero emission vehicles.
