Re: Electric Farm Tractors

Farm tractors generally don't need to make it to a distant gas
station. The only reasons they carry a lot of fuel are to:

1. reduce refueling downtime, and,

2. reduce the number of times they screw around with a flammable
liquid.

The first seems to be the more important factor. Either they have to
drive the tractor to a gas station -- more down time -- or they have a
fuel delivery service with or without a fuel storage tank near the
field.

Eliminating liquid refueling might well be worth the inconveniences of
swapping out batteries.

The government is heavily into farm subsidies so it would be easy to
encourage financially.
