*You* most absurdly have maintained that the US imperialists are

Then why did the US government provide financial and diplomatic
assistance to help Westinghouse sell four new reactors to China? And
why has the USNRC given design approvals to new Westinghouse and GE
reactor designs? And why is the USNRC gearing up to review numerous new
plant licenses?

That's all very smallscale. The fact remains: not one single new reactor
started on in the USA itself since 1973. A "bold" nuclear-energy programme
presented by Bush etc in early 2002. Result so far: Still not one new
reactor started on.

One can look at the war threats against Iran just now, for instance.

I won't defend Bush's saber rattling at Iran--it is stupid--but the US
opposes Iran's nuclear program because it is a transparent attempt to
develop an indigenous nuclear weapons capability.

So they say. But it's not only that. This pressure is also against
civilian nuclear energy.
