Important new book, "Freedom from Oil"

Great new book, "Freedom from Oil", by David Sandalow. Endorsed by Al
Gore: "When David Sandalow writes about energy and the environment, we
should all pay close attention."

The way I figure it, Sandalow's plan cuts oil consumption (and
emissions) from new cars by 75% within 10 years. It's the most hopeful
and do-able thing I've seen come out of Washington in a long time.
It's a readable, respectable book, from the mainstream Brookings
Institution, endorsed by Bill Clinton and Richard Lugar, Wes Clark and
James Woolsey, and major enviros. It's a tech-smart plan, that starts
with pluggable hybrids and adds some biofuels. The faster the country
understands this plan, the better.

I hope some members of this group will read it and post their
reactions.
