In 2008 the investment in wind power is around 11 billion euros for
which 142 Giga Kwh electricity is generated. This means that wind energy
is delivered for 7 cents per kwh to European customers. The data is
provided here:

Investments in wind energy come partially from the public and private
sectors, the price of 7 c/kwh may seem higher then conventional energy
generation, but I consider it to be worth the investment and do not
think it is a disaster stated here:

Why does Michael J. Trebil*** not object to the space shuttle program?
The cost of one space shuttle launch is 1.3 billion US dollars, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_program#Costs
Abandoning the shuttle program would probably save 4 launches per year
and generate 5.2 billion dollars of cash. Why do we need an
international space station, and why could the space program not simply
consist of scientific payloads?
That would save a lot of money as well, do this for few years and you
generate all the cash you need for the US to become as green as Europe.
