For those who are interested in fractal phenomena that occur in
nature, at the website www.amherst.edu/~rloldershaw the latest "New
Development" (August 2004) offers a possible example. The
distribution of masses for white dwarf stars has a curious
periodicity, with a highly diagnostic gap, that may require a fractal
explanation based on self-similarity between atomic and stellar mass
functions.
