Roger, Just say in simple words. Fractals are for math guys.
Fractal art is science, even if it sounds wierd. And most of people simply are not able to understand at all what Mandelbrot set is! But they are armed with programs written by scientists. So they just generate useless images and think they are good and "artistic!".
The amount of "pretty"(ugly) images in the internet exceeds normal. This is like spam, you have to filter it to find what is really intersting.

Dear Andrey Skvortsov,
I don't know how to reply to someone who is agreeing with me,
but in a way that may be hard to stomach. "Spam" is an illegal form
of email... it has become very specific.
Rich/ Richard used to tell me I was posting "spam" because my signature file was more than 4 lines long, right here in this newsgroup. He was very much in my face for trying to keep this newsgroup alive.
His were some of the worst attacks I've had on my integrity in my life.
Since what I was posting was either fractal related news or new fractals that I had produced, he was the one at fault.
I think what he did should be illegal... he did more harm to me and to this newsgroup than actual spam has done.
He has never publicly apologized for offending me and most other posters by his mean spirited attacks.
He just drove them away...
I continue to think that fractals are important, no matter how petty the guy who started this newsgroup can get.
I think this thread is a model of how discussion can be done
in a sane way. It is just sad I had to bring a third person by name into it.
My object/ intent was to get people talking about an important topic to
most of us involved in fractals.
I think the "dilution" of content involved in some fractal art is a legitimate problem.
