Oh, maybe it'd be good if I told you what hardware I'm using:

AMD64 3000+ CPU
Gigabyte K8NF-9 Socket 939 nForce4 motherboard
XFX GeForce 6200 256MB PCI-Express graphics card
512MB RAM

.... which I think is a fairly fast system. Also, I'm using Gentoo Linux.
