New In-Building Antenna from Fractal Antenna Systems Accommodates Current and Future Needs

6/20/06 - The new Universal Access Ceiling Monopole (UACM) antenna from Fractal Antenna Systems delivers wideband performance in a compact unit for broadband wireless applications. The UACM easily accommodates updates to in-building communications, protecting infrastructure investments against future technology improvements. It covers the Tetra bands at 380 MHz to 802.11 at 5.8 GHz.

The new antenna is easily mounted on the ceiling, where its compact fractal antenna design is inconspicuous, low profile, and approximately one-third the size of a conventional design. At higher elevations, the UACM has excellent gain, avoiding typical room barriers, such as cubicle walls.

Operating over 380 MHz to 6 GHz, the UACM antenna delivers excellent omnidirectional coverage, with gain of approximately 4 dBi, even at relatively low frequencies. The UACM has an outer diameter of 11.84 inches and a height of 4.63 inches. The antenna is very light, with a weight of 665 grams.

Fractal Antenna Systems was founded by Dr. Nathan Cohen, and supplies products for the world’s most demanding wireless applications. Backed by nine U.S. and international patents, plus numerous patents pending, Fractal Antenna Systems is the recognized pioneer in fractal technology, with extensive research and field experience. Fractal Antenna Systems is a privately held company headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts, USA.
