Req for reading suggestions - fractal/hologram connection?

I've dabbled in fractal art for years, and now I am interested in learning more.
In particular at this time, I am curious about the similarities between fractals
as commonly understood and holographs as explained in "The Holographic Universe"
by Michael Talbot. Maybe there are no bona fide "similarities", and if so, I
can live with that. But as you can probably guess, what has me pondering the
connection betwixt the two is the way that a holographic picture can be "broken
up", and each small piece of the picture contains a miniature version of the
entire original picture (the whole contained in part). With some fractals,
smaller regions of the fractalspace are miniature reproductions of the whole.
In a perfect fractal, the resolution at which the smaller portion can be said to
be a reproduction of the whole is anywhere from infinite to infinitecimal -
i.e., even the smallest region of the fractalspace would be an accurate
reproduction of the whole.
Hmmnn... I might not be explaining it right, but hopefully you can see why I'm
thinking about the possible connections betwixt holograms & fractals. I am
searching on my own for whatever literature there may be on the subject, but if
anyone reading this is already aware of something which might be relevant to
that area of interest, I would be most grateful for the pointers.
Either way, whether you do or you don't know, thanks for your time, and thanks
in advance for any and all replies! :-)
