My guess is that with an enlightened and committed administration
(i.e., one not indentured to Big Oil/Big Coal), we could largely be
free of *most* of our excessive dependence on oil and coal within 10
years. Instead of spending $2,000,000,000,000 on a disasterous fiasco
in Iraq, if we had put even a small fraction of that money into
reseach on fuel cells, solar technology, hydrogen fuels, clean use of
coal, etc., imagine the progress that could have been made. A
significant investment in education would have been a good idea too.

The present administration is incapable of leading the transition to
the new paradigm (cooperation, environmental integrity, enlightened
self-interest, renunciation of the benighted foreign policies of the
past).

We need intelligent leaders with integrity (free of manipulation by
money, politics or religion) and we need an educated, critically-
thinking, public that demands movement in what are self-evidently the
right directions for this country.

The Bush administration has exemplified everything that is wrong with
this country. In 2008 we can begin to show the ourselves and the rest
of the world a new America that emphasizes everything that is right
with this country. Gore is the only leader I know of that has the
right qualities to get us started.

We should demand nothing less.
