I must say that a google search of your posting history is a painful
experience and the only indication of your interest in geology is
trickle down material such as your requests for comments on articles
and more notably your opposition to considering
astronomical/terrestial motion in the development of physical surface
features such as the following response.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, Michael, perhaps you can answer a simple question. If your
planet
forces are causing earthquakes, perhaps you can explain why the planet
forces can move megatons of earth and cause spectacular volcanic
eruptions and amazing earthquakes miles under the surface of the
earth, but won't
affect fluffy white clouds, or radically shift the water in lakes and
oceans, or exhibit any other large regular measurable physical effect?

Let me answer you question. It has been known for centuries the the
Earth's shape ( variation in Equatorial/polar radii)is conditioned by
its astronomical motion so it is no great leap in imagination to
consider astronomical motions affecting the development of physical
features.

I suggest you take up stamp collecting or gardening for your reasoning
is childish at best or geocentrist at worst,no offense intended.

I will make it simple for you.It is a really bad idea to model crustal
development from the point of view of a stationary Earth.
