Tsunamis can travel at 500+ kMH - the recent tsunami travelled fro
Indonesia to Sri Lanks in approximately 2 hours - thats about 1000 kMs.

In deep water the wave can be as small as 10 -20 cms. It only gets to
enormous heights when it is affected by the continental shelf.
