Aside from what my father demanded at home... I learned my grammar in Latin,
then applied it to the more confused English language.
Then had it had it re-enforced learning German. I rebelled when Urdu
required I learn the Greek structure used to build the language.

Actually, you are right, but who teaches English grammar these days. They
didn't way back when I was in school.

The real problem is we wait till kids are in school to teach languages. The
older we get the harder languages are to learn. I've never forgotten meeting
a family of kids, while transiting the Suez on the way to Pakistan, kids 4
and 5 who were tri-lingual. Mother was Finish, dad Punjabi (spoke English
with kids) and something else, probably Baluchi with the nanny. All at the
same time, switching between languages as the different adults spoke to
them.
