Robert Grumbine: "we probably have 50-70 ky to prepare:"

That's if nothing external to our global environment gets involved, like
a good sized meteorite or asteroid like impact(s), or perhaps an
internal belch that's being indicated by the magnetosphere dropping
sharply in intensity, or simply another percent or two as per further
reducing the albedo of Earth, that along with the 'solar influx
semi-thermal-conductor affect' of the greater nighttime cloud cover
that'll give new meaning to the 'energy-in = energy-out' formula.

At the present rate we're gong, in a thousand years it seems half of
what's old-growth forest will have been dead and gone (extracted for
industry and fire wood and/or mostly from just being burned alive), and
perhaps only half of that raw soil vacancy will have achieved secondary
vegetation as taking hold.

Due to coal and oil consumption becoming twice of what it is to day, and
perhaps a thousand tonnes per year being launched into space creating
it's 1000:1 impact upon the environment, and with more frequent wars
over the limited reserves of global energy burning up every other
available drop of processed fuel, I'd say that current estimates are
being extremely conservative.
