Thanks for the replies everyone.

I still want to build a semi-castle made of stone. Castles made of
thick stone usally last forever (I guess accept in Earthquake areas),
so I want to build a house as strong as one.

What is the closest place to Ukiah that is considered safe for stone
house building? I heard that California is somewhat of a subcont.,
and in many hundreds of years it will be gone. Where does the
California sub cont. border? Does it comprise all of California or
does it also include a tiny section of Nevada?

I was thinking Northern Nevada or Montanna are good alternatives, how
much better is it over in those two states?
