Re: Get the geological momentum going

To Don

The technical argument is that the Equatorial bulge is explained one
way and the motion of component plates explained another,sub-crustal
differential rotation tightens up the explanation for the terrestial
bulge feature and facilitates a more satisfactory mechanism for crustal
motion and subsequently terrestial surface
features,Earthquakes,volcanoes ect.

Simply stated, there is no real conflict between the features of bulge
and crustal segments when the underlying mechanism for those features
is grasped in principle but presently there is an uneccessary effort to
graft rotational factors into a convection cell model while ignoring
the bulge feature.

The indignity of being told what differential rotation does and does
not influence is an expected symptom of a contemporary condition where
there are no legitimate avenues for presenting or discussing the issue
or indeed any other issues where the relationship between the motions
of the Earth are required for astronomical and geological purposes.

I know only too well the astronomical value of the insight as an
extension of a heritage that has long since dissappeared from this
world but the real sadness is knowing that geology still retains the
intuitive faculties in designating the validity of structures and
motions but these too can easily be hijacked by speculative theorists
who bluff and bluster their way into dominance.

Differential rotation as a mechanism may emerge and then sink into
mediocrity without priority or merit when it is the beginning of a
wonderful foundation of relationships between
geometry,astronomy,geology and many other things.
