Now that NASA has the comet dust back on earth (Utah is still qualifies as
earth), I wonder how long it will be until they have analyzed the material
and can tell us what it is, exactly?
I certainally hope they don't say that it is ET's tooth and it is older than
coal! (Joke)
As I understand it, we currently have no rocks older than 3 billion years,
roughly. Perhaps this dust is older than that and will shed some light on
the early moments of the galaxy's formation. Geologists are kind of like
rock forensic scientists, in this regard, looking at clues in rock
fragments, trying to put together what occurred many years ago.
