You misunderstood me. I fully support the efforts to find these dangerous
rocks. Having said that, one can still have a little fun. Life isn't all
gloom and doom, friend. Don't worry. Be happy!
One has to accept the reality that a big rock will eventually fall
and create a whole (or close to whole) new matrix of life. Just
consider it nature's refresh button.
Why do we have to accept that "reality?" Eventually we'll have the technology to divert that big rock before it hits Earth. Just consider it humanity's escape button.
A planet cannot sustain abuse eternally. As horrible as a
cataclysmic impact might seem, the alternative isn't any better.
This is just silly. If human "abuse" ends up ruining the planet's environment for humans (and other life), that is little different than having our environment ruined by a cataclysmic impact. Either way, Earth abides, and life will almost certainly evolve to take advantage of the new conditions.
