Re: KABOOM! ANCIENT IMPACTS SCARRED MOON TO ITS CORE, MAY HAVE CREATED "MAN IN THE MOON"

He and Potts are exploring the idea, by studying gravitational anomalies
under the Chicxulub Crater on Mexico 's Yucatan Peninsula . A giant
asteroid struck the spot some 65 million years ago, and is believed to have
set off an environmental chain reaction that killed the dinosaurs.

Hmmm, that's getting perilously close to resurrecting the ("popular
science") suggestion that the Chuxulub impact triggered the Deccan traps
eruptions. Which has been a non-starter in the Dinosaur Whodunnit for years
because the duration of the Deccan volcanic province includes a substantial
period (100s of thousands of years) *before* the date of the Chixulub impact.
Causes precede generally don't effects!
