if you'd just open your eyes I think you'll find that just
over there, in the shade between those many other tall, barky
and leafy - but by no means recognisable or distinguishable as
any species of tree - objects, that "tree" there isn't really a
tree; it's actually a species of woody shrub, and as a forest
is, by your own definition, made up of trees, this is clearly not
a forest at all but rather a shrubbery, no doubt one that was
commissioned by the Knights of Ni, and therefore the other objects
that you are being distracted by clearly cannot be trees at all,
since we are all well aware that any trees have long since been felled
with herrings by orders of the Knights.
Of course this required rather a lot of herrings, so i think we can
comfortably conclude that a fishing company has grown up supporting
itself purely by catering to travelers requiring herrings, and has come
to dominate the local economy to the extent that all other commerce
has foundered, an unfortunate state of affairs for other businessmen
no doubt, but luckily the surfeit of, now slightly the worse for wear
but
perfectly edible, fish, means that at least no one is starving, though
a
few ungrateful characters have been heard to bemoan the lack of variety
in their diets; luckily there are only a few such malcontents and in
general
I imagine it is fair and say that with a diet rich in omega-3 fatty
acids the
general population is in fine fettle and as we all, I am sure, agree
that fish
is brain food, then clearly this is in fact the most intelligent and
enlightened
society the world has ever known; so when i tell you that they all
agree there
is no forest you will be compelled to admit that i was right all along.
Rather then arguing with me, you should humbly confess your error and
we
should instead be focusing our energies on the awful plight of these
folk, who, since there is no forest, are now doomed to starvation as
there
will be no more need for travelers to carry herrings, so no more
battered fish
for supper, and the one remaing economic mainstay in the region will go
bankrupt leading to untold misery, despair and death unless, rather
than wasting
time attempting to argue that the classification of woody shrub is
actually rather
arbitrary, you join with me and help establish a relief organisation
that I can
be director of. QED.
