As you may know, following the Sumatra disaster we had gobs of
reporters come around doing interviews, getting pictures etc.
One of them actually asked me, " Is this the pinnacle of your
scientific career? "
Yes, ..As I remember there were door greeters, bikini girls,
...streamers and confetti, .. and George swung from chandeliers hooting
like the gorilla he is. (S'funny how remarkably little changes around
here..) (George, ..the rootin' hootin' tootin' gorilla ... who started
this thread..)
That was one of the few times in my life I was actually speechless.
I'm not surbloodyprised. But you've been speechless more than a few
times when confronted with a challenge to plate tectonics
Course had I said anything, it would not have been printable.
Oh, I don't know, ...you've printed a few things which shall remain
nameless, I should think.
Stuart - You and the rest of the crew keep up the good work. We'll do what
we can to keep the funding coming and hope your wish not to live through an
event like that again is fulfilled.
Thanks. Apprently a major funding bill was passed by Congress and I
believe it was signed by Bush.
Oooh, our Stu is name dropping again, .. ( wrong bin, stu.)
Now if it was just possible to educate people to the point that they truly
understood mans truly insignificance stature relative to the forces of
nature ..... We'd not live so close to the beach or on a volcano's flank
without adequate warning systems or ignore the weather patterns on Mt. Hood.
At least in the latter case the weather forecast was right on target, for
all the good it did.
Unfortunately, living near the beach and on Volcano flanks does help
one feed themselves.
"does help one feed ***ONE'S SELF*** " ( You're an incorrigible
ungrammatic, y'ole bugger.) (Now, ..That one on your bum - <dart> cop
that! )
("Just possible to educate people.." etc etc)?? You're a challenge,
Stuart, ..a challenge... That's for sure (Maybe we'll make progress
next time.) Remember rotation, ... core/ mantle/ crust decoupling,
...stresses arising, ..Earthquakes even, ..
Go on, ...tell Bob what you reckon..
