Sea level has fluctuated over hundreds of millions of years.
Some oil geologists, e.g. Peter Vail of Exxon/Rice worked
out paleolevels as an petroleum exploration tool.
Sometimes this helps you understand the age and type
of rock in seismic section you havent drilled yet.
