Re: Small book for identifying rocks

Hello all. Is there some sort of small book that could be used by
non-geologists on family outings to identify rocks? The sort of thing I
imagine would be a small book you could carry with you, and if you find
a rock or rock formation, you could follow some sort of checklist or
branching path to find out what it is and learn something about it. A
book suitable for use while accompanying a seven year old would be
best.

I live in the East Midlands of the UK, in case this makes a difference.

I don't know of any in particular. Also, identifying rocks positively in the field is rather difficult in some cases - though fairly easy in others.
