Some of those are gone, some are very limited grouplist. I used
the server list here initially:

which led me to aioe.org, which worked quite well for me for about
a week and a half, but dropped out last friday night, and didn't
appear when I tried again monday, so I have shifted now to
"albasani.net", which curiously doesn't show on that list.
Hmmm, I've been using aioe.org since your post a few weeks ago (having
rejected Google's new abomination-of-an-interface) - thanks a lot!! I
didn't try it over the weekend, but it's been working fine for me this
week, though I was away on Monday.
Well, I'm happy this has been of benefit. I have the impression
that these free newsservers have the odd dropout. I guess it
may be the luck of the draw whether you get caught by them.
I may have just been unlucky to hit an outage twice in a row.
I'll stick with this one for now. I also noticed a note on
alt.free.newsservers about newsreaders which can juggle polling
multiple servers at the same time - "multiserver support".
This may be worth investigating if I find my feed being
unreliable again.
