Interestingly, I went to my cave grotto meeting after the meeting at a
pizza joint tonight, and a perfect stranger (not with our group)
buttonholed me on the way out, showed me the newspaper, and asked what I
thought about the report. When I finished with the pros and cons of the
article, did a demo of Pangaea with napkins on my fist, and finished with
the young man's questions (about 20 minutes) he wanted to know if he owed
me several hundred dollars for the explanation. I gave him my website
address instead, but that would be the life: getting buttonholed on the
street to explain geology to passersby, and getting paid for it, to boot!

Oh, dear. Turned down an offer of money ;-) You should have at least let
him pay what he thought it was worth. Might have allowed you to pay for the
Pizza next meeting or a cup of coffee.

I once took a call forwared by the CoC on a quiet afternoon. A guy asking
about how to find out what had happened to a lease he'd won in the lottery
and sold. My wall map showed two wells. 15 min and 2 fone calls got him
the number of the folks who claimed..they couldn't find him and were holding
the funds. When asked, I told him I'd spent 15 minutes and he could pay me
what he tought is was worth.

Much to my surprise, the week after Christmas I got a check for $1,000 with
a note asking for an invoice for the enclosed amount. It seems his $97,000
royalty check showed up on Christmas Eve.

Says something that he asked, most folks expect advise for free. ;-). When
you are lucky they someday pass you some business.

The Bruntons being kept busy?
