Another convert! Do as I did: use your degree in computer science to arrange an accelerated geology track at your local university. I have a Bsc. in computer sciences, have done one quite intensive remedial year of geology courses (focused on planetary geology) and am now in my first year as an Msc.-student. So really, my advice is: follow your heart ;)
In response to your question, if you're into structural geology then take a look at the book "structural geology" by Twiss & Moores. If you're into solid-earth geophysics, "the solid earth" by Boas is a good primer. If you however want a good introductory book into geology (and geography / palaeontology) as a whole, try Marshak's "earth: portrait of a planet".
