I have a disused uranium mine and would like to do a school project on it.
What hazards from the radiation would there be? It was a fairly big mine in
the early 20 th century but is now disused. It mined uranium and radium for
Madame Curie. I would appreciate any help please.
It a disturbingly basic question you put considering your situation.
Don't let your investigation rest on the response you get here.
Your school may have a geiger-counter suitable to check radiation levels.
Maybe you should cross-check the instrument in colaboration with a hospital
nucler-physicist, .. I don't know
Nucler radiation is one of the booboomen of my generation. Irrational
behavior of parents when it comes to their kids coupeled with the boobooman
in question may give you unpredictable reactions where you'll be responsible
for convincing spooked parents on the safety of the project.
