I agree -- it's a dumb headline with no secondary reference. And most
baby powder these days (post WR Grace) is cornstarch.

Just looked at the label of the Johnsons "Baby Powder" in our bathroom
and
the ingredients are listed as talc and "fragrance". I would have thought
that
cornstarch would have promoted "bug" growth - e.g yeast infections etc.

They must be exporting the stuff. I went and looked at my bottle of stinky
powder (also J&J) and it says cornstarch, sodium bicarbonate, tri-calcium
phosphate [yum] talc,(as anti-caking agent)fragrance and maltodextrin.
Maltodextrin? Sugar? Like Monty Python said: "it idn't got but a little
talc in it."

BTW who is WR Grace?

Bit of a long straw connecting talc with asbestos though. I know they can
be both
found in serpentinite bodies, but one is fibrous and the other is a
phyllosilicate.
Sounds like the asbestos scare has gone overboard in the US!
