The thing is,
Bruntons to me are an icon, saying Today I'm a Geologist
Mine didn't work out of the box, it has this little shaving that makes
the needle stick somehow and I can't get it out, spose I'll have to
send it back, but I couldn't before fieldcamp started so used
it to my success throughout work.
In addition, if you have maps, GPS won't tell you anything a compass
won't .. unless there are many trees and scrub brush that could eat you
(and it's kind of slow)
Plus, don't you believe it important to intuit knowledge as well as
come up with the right answer? I mean if all our satellites are knocked
down or the government decides(heaven forbid) to reencrypt the system,
that's going to leave a lot of folks without the ability to function
anymore.
Let's look at it for what it is, a reliance on a delicate technology that
doesn't
teach you anything, but leaves you vulnerable if that's all you ever used
.
