Anyone else here see "Hotspots Unplugged" in SA?

I tried to read the article in the January 2008 Scientific American in which the researcher claims that his research proves that hotspots move as well as the plates? It doesn't bother me if hotspots move, but I don't find his methodology very convincing, and the concept that most of North American geological theory will fall as a result of his discovery bordering on hubris.
Just wondered what others thought.
