You may well think me strange .... but I wanted to share this special
moment.
While walking up the ramp that lead into my house, I heard just off to my
left a light fluttering sound.
Taking a closer look I saw a rather large dragonfly that had been caught
on a single strand of very strong spider web.
It's fluttering, in an attempt to escape, was causing it to fly round and
round in a smallish circle - rather like those model airplanes that you
can suspend from the ceiling of a room and fly around in small circles.
I was able to reach out - and gently held the creature in my left hand -
while with my right hand was able to break the single strand of spider web
and release this beautiful little soul . I was very surprised at how
strong the single strand was.
The dragonfly sat on my palm and we regarded each other for a moment.
I can't imagine what he/she may have been thinking - but I could not help
but be in awe of the incredible perfection I saw.
The wings were made of the most perfect lace - the body long and slim -
the legs slender but stoutly supporting the perfect body.
And the eyes - oh my God - they were of the most beautiful colour green I
have ever seen. Such incredible depth - I felt as though I see into all
eternity.
For a moment I beheld the eyes of God and all creation itself. That
moment was exquisite!!
There was still a small length of web attached to its body, and while I
thought how I could best remove the last remaining piece without causing
any harm - the creature launched itself into the air and the warm sunlight
to continue on with it's life mission. Apparently none the worse for what
had happened to it.
A beautiful moment - thanks for listening. :-)
