Were there separate dates for contact at Suez and Gibraltar?
One problem with answering your question is that
what became south-eastern Asia was not part ofEurasia
until about 15 million years ago, so you'll have to provide
a definition of "Eurasia" for us.
Also, "contact at Suez" has been maintained for mega-years,
the Arabian Plate only recently starting to diverge fromAfrica,
so, would you tell us what you mean by that phrase, as well,
please? .

Aha, I see my error now. I didn't realise that Africa and Arabia were
joined before the pair of them contacted Eurasia.

The site you gave me says 'by 10 million years ago' (Arabia-Eurasia)
and 'by 6 million years ago' (Africa-Spain). These are latest possible
dates. Can anyone suggest earliest possible dates or most likely dates
of actual contact?

Thanks, Samuel

Samuel:
Look at this site for illustrations of the history of connections
between Africa and Eurasia in the eastern Mediterranean area;
note that Arabia/Africa and Eurasia were
connected during the Late Burdigalian (Fig. 6), were
disconnected during the Langhian (fig. 8), and were
reconnected in the Early Seravallian (Fig. 9):

This one says that by 7.6 Ma, the Mediterranean was isolated from
the Atlantic:

That's the best that I can do, right now.
More, later? Hmmm?
