As much as that old wife tale makes me cringe, the first time I heard it was
at the age of 9 during early Feb 1978. It had been on the news how the
Eastern USA had been experiencing severe winter weather when my Gran said
"we'll soon be getting that then". Incredibly 4 or 5 days later Hull was
brought to a stand still by a blizzard. The two Synoptics below show that
what occurred were little if at all related :-
